Wed, 02 May 2012 Angry Birds Land theme park opens in Finland

Angry-birds-land Angry Birds has landed in Finland’s Särkänniemi Adventure Park. The themed attraction includes 12 rides, an adventure course and themed restaurants and cafes. Angry Birds characters such as Red Bird and Helmet Pig wander the theme park to greet children and families.

Eurogamer reports that Angry Birds Land was designed by staff at Särkänniemi Adventure Park, alongside the Finnish creators of Angry Birds, Rovio. “I personally like Rovio’s approach a lot as even though it’s originally a gaming company, they are very much into involving families to do things together and getting them active,” said the park’s CEO Miikka Seppälä in an interview.

“As for the gaming aspect, it also has cool stuff for teens as well,” said Seppälä. The park will be expanded later in the year, to include a new “Magic Place” attraction where guests can upgrade their Angry Birds games.

“The opening of Angry Birds Land in Särkänniemi is a really big deal for us,” said Seppälä. “The theme and design of Angry Birds is internationally renowned, so we are delighted to welcome visitors from around the globe to experience the product for themselves. The area is definitely a must see destination for millions of Angry Birds players, but also a great experience for those who are not yet familiar with the game”.

It was reported on Tuesday that Angry Birds Space has become the fastest-selling mobile app ever, after achieving a record breaking 50 million downloads in just 35 days.
